Austria saw a huge spike in new cases starting in October. On November 22nd a full lockdown was introduced.
This continued until December 12th (plainly seen by the kink in the graph) when the lock down was removed for vaccinated people.
Unvaccinated people remain in lockdown although some restrictions will be lifted for a few days over Christmas.
Austria’s wave was due to the Delta variant. The Omicron wave is yet to happen.
In Germany a warning on the 27th November that a lock down may be imminent stalled the growth in new cases. But
A lock down for the unvaccinated was announced on 4th December, and the cases began to fall much more rapidly.
Covid passports do seem to work and are implemented in many countries. Will England’s government introduce them soon?
